I hope this supplement is really fighting infections. I have taken Beta Glucan for years (another producer) and I am under the impression that it helps chase away infection. Now we are faced with a major infection and I have vulnerable health. We will see what happens. However, I trust Beta Glucan and am happy with this provider. The capsule is easy to swallow. For me the decision to choose Glucan Elite over Transfer Point is an easy one. You just need to break it down and look at each segment before making a decision. Here are my thoughts and I hope this helps others find the information they are looking for while saving research time. 1) Purity/Potency: First off, Glucan Elite boasts 85% 1,3 beta glucan content and posts the batch specific COA to back it up. I spoke with their customer service and found that they test each batch and do not release the raw material for encapsulation until it is confirmed to have a minimum 85% potency of 1,3 chain linkage and meets all industry standard purity and safety standards. This is probably the most important fact to consider when choosing any dietary supplement, but especially with something like beta glucan since purity and potency are everything (I’d rather pay more and ensure I get a high quality product). What’s great about Glucan Elite is I get to pay less and get the highest quality product. 2) Effectiveness: Ensuring the product works is just as important as purity/potency. I don’t want to waste my time with products that don’t work and I believe you are in the same boat. Transfer Point has been around for awhile and has solid research but so does Glucan Elite (their beta glucan is called BGF-Immune) and they have extensive studies done showing the product is just as effective as Transfer Point’s Glucan 300 if not even more effective in certain aspects such as bioavailability and absorption from having a linear chain linkage rather than highly branched. I asked Glucan Elite's customer service for any research validating their product and they responded promptly and sent me multiple studies and a comparison of their product vs Transfer Point’s beta glucan as well as other brands on the market. I found out they also have this posted on their website, too. One of Glucan Elite’s studies shows statistically significant enhancement of natural killer cell activity and suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in healthy adult humans with a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled parallel group study. Transfer Point also has their research posted on their website and their customer service is also responsive, but they do not post their COA but it is available if you ask their customer service. Something else I discovered along the way regarding effectiveness of beta glucan is that the most important thing to check for is confirmed potency of the 1,3 chain linkage and the amount of it. This is what research shows makes beta glucan work. If you look at all of the studies then you will find that the more 1,3 chain linkage taken at therapeutic doses then you end up with positive immune-modulation. It’s as simple as that. The beta glucan products that are 1,4 or 1,6 chain linkage heavy or do not care to test or post their product’s makeup of chain linkage are the ones to avoid because they are cheap and research shows them to be ineffective at producing a desirable result in terms of immune system support. Glucan Elite’s BGF-Immune beta glucan has confirmed third party tested potency of 1,3 chain linkage from an incredibly reputable source being NutriScience Innovations which is significantly larger and more well established than Transfer Point. Best Beta 1,3 D Glucan! Even better and cheaper than the Transfer Point brand which I have been taking in the past without feeling many positive results as far as immune enhancement.

’m glad to see someone finally developed a beta glucan extraction method that eliminated all of the problems with yeast/mushroom extraction. Researching beta glucan studies, it’s clear that the active beta-1,3-glucan linkage is the only part of beta glucan that really stimulates the immune system. Fermentation extraction is the only method that produces linear beta-1,3-glucan compared to yeast and other methods having complicated structures with beta-1,4-glucan or beta-1,6-glucan in places you don’t want it. These 1,4 / 1,6 linkages aren’t bad for you, but why pay extra for something that research says doesn’t stimulate your immune response in the way that 1,3 linkage does? The “BGF Immune” source they are using is a huge scientific breakthrough in regards to beta glucan, and renders the other extraction methods obsolete (or at least they should be soon). Beta glucan has a huge future as more and more studies are completed and the research continues to support how effective this product is for boosting our immune systems, keeping us healthy and fighting a host of diseases in people (and pets).

I just did quite a bit of research on this product and I’m glad to share. It’s important to know this stuff before buying and using a product like this otherwise you aren’t maximizing your experience or investment. BGF Immune is the type of “branded” beta glucan used in this product. Branded in the sense that it is was studied, researched, created, tested and manufactured by a supplement research lab called NutriScience Innovations. Their website says: "NutriScience Innovations is a leading and trusted global supplier of specialty and fine quality nutritional, dietary, functional food & beverage ingredients and raw materials for cosmetic and animal health applications. NutriScience is GMP-certified by SGS and delivers quality products backed by science and research, with 20 years of experience.” Nice. They created this specialty beta glucan and own the rights to manufacture and make BGF Immune beta glucan, which is the 85% minimum 1,3D linkage fermentation derived beta glucan. Their website says they also third party test and validate all of their batches to ensure they are safe from any contaminants and contain the promised 85% minimum 1,3D linkage they advertise. This matters a lot because so many other beta glucan supplements, or supplements in general for that matter, don’t test anything so how do you know you’re getting what you pay for or a safe product? I like how they post their results directly on the Amazon page, too. Glucan Elite is a supplement that contains this BGF Immune beta glucan described above. It appears that Glucan Elite is sold directly through Amazon so they aren’t jacking up the price like physicians, doctors or brick and mortar stores do to cover their high overhead or just make a bigger profit like Transfer Point does. God Bless Amazon for allowing suppliers to cut out middle men who make our products more expensive than they need to be. Speaking of Transfer Point, which is another potent beta glucan product that I used to take, I reached out to them directly and they said they only sell their products to licensed physicians for them to basically mark up to us and that it should not be sold on Amazon. Apparently some of the physicians still do this anyways, and they sell it for nearly $70. Another useless middle man. Glucan Elite is basically direct to consumer so the price is much better than comparable products like Transfer Point’s 500mg beta glucan product - same serving size and quantity as Glucan Elite, but only 83% potency and not 85% potency. Another nice difference is if you buy a 2-pack or a 3-pack of Glucan Elite, you save BIG (look at the multi-pack variations on this listing). Overall, this is a really good product from a trustworthy source and a very fair price for the quality and value you are getting, especially if you buy the multi-packs. It would be nice if they made some 10 capsule trial packs or something for travel/vacation use or for first time customers to try.

I'm a long time user of beta glucan supplements and was excited when I found Transfer Point Beta 1,3D Glucan years ago, which at the time was by and far the highest potency beta glucan product on the market (about 88.7% active total 1,3/1,6 linkage derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker's yeast), and still is a wonderful product in terms of the benefits, but the high cost has always been rough but absolutely worth it - since you can't put a price on your health. I've spent a lot of time researching different brands of beta glucan supplements, linkage specifications and ratios, beta glucan immune studies, user reviews, how it works in the body, how the supplements are manufactured and the beta glucan harvested, etc. You get the point. I guess you could say I'm a tad obsessed, but the research on beta glucan is so promising and so many people are seeing real results and change in their health that I couldn't help but want to read and learn more. If you've read up on it at all or are reading this now I'm sure you've felt the same to some degree - in an age of rising health care costs and so much misinformation, this stuff is really promising. Anyways, I hope by writing this I can help some people learn more about beta glucan, why potency matters and why I'm so glad that I found Glucan Elite. Beta glucan studies show that when it is taken in a bioavailable manner (meaning your body actually absorbs it and in a therapeutic amount), it stimulates the immune system from various pathways within the body. I won't go into detail here, but look up "beta glucan research 1,3 linkage" if you want to learn more about how and why it works, which I highly recommend if you have the time! Most of the beta glucan supplements out are relatively inexpensive but also just as ineffective, and that's because the amount of active 1,3/1,6 linkage that research shows to product positive immune-modulating effects aren't in the supplements. Some of them even have a bunch of 1,4 linkage which research shows doesn't possess the same immune enhancing functions as the 1,3 linkage. 1,3 linkage percentage and amount is the most important thing to check on a beta glucan supplement and I think this information should be readily available on the supplement label or have some kind of lab analysis showing the legitimacy/transparency of the ingredients. It's also important to look at the amount of active 1,3 linkage included per capsule/serving and calculating how much you'll get in a bottle and then looking at price to make sure you are getting a good value. Some beta glucan supplements I've seen have so little active 1,3 linkage you'd have to consume the entire bottle of 60 or more capsules to get one therapeutic dose according to what the research says works - Insane, right? (Sometimes I wonder who the heck is formulating these low potency products for goodness sake) Glucan Elite is the first beta glucan dietary supplement that I've found that uses the new branded BGF-Immune 85% minimum 1,3 active linkage fermentation derived beta glucan by Nutriscience (check them out and read up on that for more information too), a solid step above Transfer Point's product in terms of bioavailability, equal in 1,3 active linkage, and at a considerable discount to their price of $69.95 a bottle, especially if you're buying multiple bottles (the 2 and 3 packs are pretty good value if you don't mind stocking up and saving like me). I did the math and both Glucan Elite and Transfer Point have a 85% min 1,3 linkage potency (but both probably contain slightly more) and both contain 500mg per serving and 60 capsules per bottle. No other beta glucan products on the market can say that they have this type of potency, which puts these two products in a clear league of their own. I decided to switch to Glucan Elite because I want to be able to take the best beta glucan supplement every day, I want it to actually absorb into my body, positively affect my immune system and I don't want to break the bank to do it. The savings from switching to Glucan Elite seriously add up fast (if you buy a 3 pack of Glucan Elite you'll save almost $100 versus buying 3 bottles of Transfer Point). Plus, the fermentation derived method of extraction in Glucan Elite (BGF-Immune) is significantly better than just from straight baker's yeast used in Transfer Point's extraction method for optimal 1,3 active linkage. I could go on and on but I recommend researching some of the topics I mentioned above, investigating what you read, and doing the math using supplement labels before you buy any beta glucan products. This is the only thing that helped with seborrheic dermatitis that I had on my cheeks. Years and years of red, irritated, burning, itchy, flakey skin that would be sensitive to just about anything I put on it. Using zinc soap helped a bit, at least it wasn't getting worse, but as soon as I introduced beta glucan I saw a noticeable improvement within 24 hours. Yes, it was that quick. After three or four days my seb seem was completely gone. I've been taking it for a few months and my skin is the best it's ever been.
